March is National Social Work Month: Brandi Griffiss
Meet Brandi Griffiss. Brandi is from Tallahassee, Florida. She attended Florida State University and chose Social Work because she has always enjoyed helping others. It was a natural fit for her!
Brandi’s first job as a Social Worker was at Anchorage Children’s Home. She worked while attending FSU. After graduation, she began working at Apalachee Center Day Treatment. Brandi has worked in the industry for 20 years. She has worn several hats at NWF Health Network, the current one being Foster Family Support Supervisor for Circuit 2. She is enjoying leading the FSS Team in licensing and supporting our awesome foster parents. Brandi has a passion for helping families thrive, especially meeting the needs of children.
Brandi brings a positive “We’ve got this” attitude to her workplace. She is inspired by Jeremiah 29:11-13. It reminds her that God has good plans for her and is always there to help her through life. To be a Social Worker, you must be flexible and go with the flow while staying positive. She says she only focuses on things she can change. She advises new Social Workers to “take time for yourself so you can do a good job for a long time.”
Brandi loves to hang out with her family. She says she has 6 children, 4 of whom are adopted, and 4 grandchildren to love on. She likes to play disc golf with her husband and she enjoys reading. It helps her disconnect and relax from the stress of the job.
Thank you Brandi Griffiss. We appreciate you!
