May is National Foster Care Month: Introducing Alison Martin, C1 Foster Mom
During the month of May, we have reached out to our system partners to shine a spotlight on the incredible foster moms throughout our region. May is not only Foster Care Awareness Month, but also the month we celebrate mothers.
Foster moms hold a special place in our hearts for the profound impact they have on the lives of children, and we feel privileged to dedicate this month to honor and appreciate them.
We would like to introduce you to foster mom Alison Martin who was recognized by a system partner!
I love talking with Ms. Martin! She is always willing to help and go out of her way for the kids that come into her home. One of her first questions is always, “What do they need?” She immediately goes to the store to get them new clothes and essentials. Her goal is to ensure the kids are having a good time and all of their needs are being met. On a specific occasion, she welcomed four siblings and provided them new bedding, clothes, and shoes. She took them to get their hair done and they even spent the Christmas holidays with her. She went out of her way to ensure the children all had a magical Christmas morning opening everything on their Christmas wish lists. She maintained the four siblings until a home came available for them to be placed together. The entire time the children were placed in her care she treated them like family. She made sure to advocate on their behalf the importance of them being placed in a home together. In my opinion, Ms. Martin is an absolute hero.
