Stories of Strength: Captain Jeremy Johnston of Wakulla Sheriff’s Office

Meet Captain Jeremy Johnston who has been with the Wakulla Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. For the past two years, Captain Johnston has served as the lead Student Resource Officer (SRO) at Wakulla High School.

Captain Johnston has seen firsthand the benefits of the Mobile Response Team (MRT’s). Mobile Response Teams aim to keep kids stable to avoid adult centers and Baker Acts, where possible. Captain Johnston said, “MRT has reduced the need for juvenile Baker Acts from 3-4 a week to 1-2 a month. Also, MRTs are mostly utilized by road patrol during the summer, due to kids being out of school.”

Thank you for keeping our community and schools safe, Captain Johnston. You are making a difference.
