Foster Parent Spotlight: Emilie Ohmit

Emilie Ohmit has been a licensed foster parent since 2013 and in that time she has adopted 3 children and lovingly cared for countless others. After raising 2 adult children, Emilie decided that she wanted to provide a safe place for children whose families need time to heal.  In her 11 years of fostering children from hard places she has grown to become a wise and keen advocate for children with special needs. Emilie has learned the art of meeting a child where they are and slowing down when a child who comes into their home is struggling. Currently, Emilie serves children and families by giving our most vulnerable children a safe place to land until a suitable long-term home is found.

Emilie and her 3 adopted children, ages 9, 9 and 7 enjoy playing and watching sports, going to the beach and generally being outside whenever possible! Any time a new child is in their home, even if only for one night, she strives to help them feel like a member of her family. Emilie advocates for each kiddo that is placed in her home and is very thankful for the Gulf Coast Foster Bridge.

Emilie wants others to see and understand how important and needed this work of fostering is and to encourage people to respond if they feel a call to stand in the gap and serve in this way.

Thank YOU, Emilie for your YES!
