June is Reunification Month: Megan Gleaton

Megan’s journey to reunification with her family has been a testament to the power of perseverance and hope. Despite a 10 year addiction and facing significant challenges, Megan’s determination and the support of her loved ones have been instrumental in reuniting her family. When Megan’s story began she and her husband were struggling with addiction and legal issues. Despite setbacks and heartache, Megan remained steadfast in her hope for a brighter future for her family.

“I was on meth heavily when everything started, my husband and I were in and out of jail constantly. Our son ended up testing positive for methamphetamines in the hospital, which is what started our case.” Megan Gleaton

Throughout her journey, Megan faced many setbacks, obstacles and moments of despair. However, with the support of her husband and organizations like CARE (Chemical Addiction Recovery Effort) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) provided her with strength to persevere. She says that NA has played a pivotal role in her reunification, providing her with vital a support system and a community that celebrated her achievements, such as her one-year milestone of being clean. Additionally, she is thankful to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) for the opportunity to reunify with her sons.

Megan’s advice to other families facing similar experiences is a testament to her resilience and determination. She emphasizes the importance of commitment and the invaluable support of a strong network.

The experience of reunification has impacted Megan’s family by bringing them closer together and strengthening their bond. With her children back home, Megan and her husband are now able to work towards a brighter future.
