March is Social Work Appreciation Month: Tara Franklin
Meet Tara Franklin. Tara received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University. She has been the Adoption Specialist in Circuit 1 since November 2022. Tara started in the Child Welfare field in 2002 and has worn many hats in the field of social work. She has been a volunteer for the Guardian Ad Litem program, a Case Advocate with the Child Protection Team, an Infant Mental Health Consultant, a case manager, a unit manager, and a Permanency Specialist.
Social Work was not originally Tara’s major in college. She wanted to teach literature at a college level. One of her classmates was a social work major and through their discussions, Tara changed her major halfway through college. Tara likes knowing that social workers make a difference in what they do. Tara said: “With everything we hear and experience in this field, some days will be hard and almost unbearable but in the end, we are making a difference.”
In her spare time, Tara enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling. She also recently started woodworking and finds that she enjoys creating new ideas or updating things she already owns.
Thank you, Tara. We appreciate your dedication to the families we serve!
