Social Work Appreciation Month: Christy Bertera
Christy Bertera earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Social Work from Florida State University. She has spent nearly 20 years working in the field within the criminal justice system as a Victim Advocate, a Forensic Interviewer, and implementing diversion programming for juvenile offenders. Currently, Christy is serving NWF Health Network in the role of Criminal Justice Specialist, where she works on implementation of programs addressing the intersection of behavioral health and the criminal justice system.
Christy’s personal life serves as a testament to her work as she raises five children, three of whom are adopted. She sits on the Board for the Big Bend Victim Assistance Coalition, has conducted numerous trainings for the community and law enforcement, and has been recognized for her work with multiple local and national awards.
Balancing the demands of her family and work life, Christy enjoys spending her early mornings in the gym as a form of self-care. When she decided to enter the field of Social Work, her goal was to change the life of one person, now Christy hopes to impact the lives of many through her work with NWF Health Network along with our Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice System partners.
Thank you, Christy. You are a valued employee at NWF Health Network.
