Tallahassee Youth Opportunity
Coming this May, any high school students over 16 who are in foster care are eligible to participate in the first year pilot program Step into Success. This program is for foster youth alumni ages 16-26. There are two components to the Step into Success program:
Workforce Education: The workforce education is a 40 hour, youth focused interactive training that will take place in Tallahassee, FL beginning in May of 2024. Participants will learn important professional development and life skills over the course of the training such as resume building, interview skills, professionalism, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution in the workplace, financial literacy, and so much more.
Workforce Internship: The workforce internship experience will consist of an on-site internship with a minimum of 80 hours a month. Interns will receive a stipend of $1,517 per month as well as a one-time $500 clothing stipend to purchase uniforms or internship attire that is needed. Interns must be 18 years old to be eligible for the workforce experience. Each participant must complete the workforce education training in order to be eligible for the workforce internship experience as well as meet any other requirements outlined in Senate Bill 1190.
